Cattle, agriculture, Gas Industry and rail transport still make up the bulk of
Trinidads industrial base. Sitting astride the I-25 at a historic
crossroads where the mountains meet the high plains, Trinidad is seeing a
Renaissance happen. New businesses are flowing in and the area is becoming
known as an arts and culture center. Recently (winter, 1998-9), the national
media have been spotlighting Trinidad, calling it the Santa Fe of
Colorado, with many articles about the artists and writers who are
discovering the beauty of the area and the friendliness of the neighbors.
Trinidad has also been getting national attention lately because of the many
restorations of Victorian buildings that are going on in town. The Denver
Post has compared Trinidad very favorably with posh Cherry Creek, calling
Trinidad Cherry Creek South. Combine all this with a vibrant business
community, an excellent State Junior College, great year round weather, and
our world famous Colorado attractions and lifestyle, and you have the recipe
for Paradise.

Men and women built empires from the Santa Fe Trail; historic figures like
Kit Carson, the Bent brothers, Bat Masterson and Billy the kid - add to it's wild west charm.
